The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), headquartered in Lausanne, has set a minimum age of 16 for participation in the Olympic Games in order to protect the bodies of the young gymnasts. This is to prevent the bodies, which are still in their development and growth phase by top sport carry long-term damage. China took third place with the women's team of 154,008.
