Pelota is a racket sport similar to squash. It is particularly popular among the Basques. It was an Olympic demonstration sport three times: in 1924, 1968 and 1992. At the 1900 Olympic Games in Paris, there was an event that was considered an Olympic event. It is the only sport in which Olympic medals were awarded, although no event was ever held at the Olympic Games. A match had been planned since the 1900 Olympic Games, the Spanish pair was ready, but the French opponents did not compete.
