The Norwegian show jumping team achieved the third best performance with 27 points. But then it turned out that Tony André Hansen's horse Camiro had been treated with capsaicin, which is not allowed. A total of five horses were treated with illicit means in Beijing. But Hansen did not want to accept the impending loss of the bronze medal and fought the disqualification by the International Sports Court (CAS) and lost. He was suspended for four and a half months, his result removed from the list, leaving the Norwegians with only 49 and the Swiss to be awarded the bronze medal.
