Russia originally won the bronze medal with a time of 1:22:16.9, but was disqualified in 2020 due to a subsequent positive doping test for oxandrolone in Evgeny Ustyugov. Ustyugov appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The appeal was rejected. Sweden took the bronze medal.
