Olympic Medals in the games of 1912 in Stockholm
311 Medals in 16 Sports in 102 Events
The games of the V. Olympiad, apart from the tennis competitions in May, took place from June 28th to July 22nd. There was an opening and closing ceremony and there was a target photography for the first time, which found for the first time in the 1,500m run that the two Americans crossed the finish line at the same time, at that time it was still measured in tenths of a second, but the target photo occupied the small one Difference between silver and bronze medals. A curiosity was that the Swedish king Gustav V stood on a pedestal and handed the medals below from above the medals.
The proportion of women was still very small, but they were allowed to hold competitions in swimming and diving for the first time.
For the first time there was an Olympic daily in English and Swedish during the games. Another new launch was the Olympic art competitions that were held until 1948. These are not recorded on our homepage because the active sport should be the focus. Stockholm was the first to set the standard for how Olympic games should be played. Due to the First World War, the Berlin Games were canceled in 1916. The games played in Antwerp in 1920 were based on those in Stockholm.
