The American Tyler Hamilton was celebrated as the winner in 57: 34.74. The A sample gives blood doping with alien blood. However, since the B-sample was unusable due to a wrong storage, he was able to retain his gold medal for the time being. A lawsuit by second-placed Russian Vyacheslav Yekimov was dismissed, as only the IOC and the World Association UCI are entitled to do so. Several months later, Hamilton was convicted of blood doping again, but he wanted to excuse himself with the excuse that the blood came from a deceased, prenatal twin. He was locked for two years. After the lock he won another leg of the Tour of Qinghai Lake. In 2009 he was convicted for the third time of doping and suspended for 8 years. That ended his career. In 2011, he admitted on American television that he had doped for years and accused Lance Armstrong who was in the same team with him, also of doping.
